When it comes to style, style and design are almost limitless. You can have tile installed on not just your floors, but also on your walls and on the outside of your home.
Tile is a product that is made to last. They are durable and resistant to moisture and heat making them an ideal flooring option. Tile is also made with natural materials and is an allergy friendly flooring solution.
Below, Jim Aaron explains how to choose the perfect tile for your home.
What are the Different Types of Tile?
We have three main tile options to choose from including: ceramic, porcelain, and stone.
When looking for bathroom and kitchen flooring options, may homeowners lean towards ceramic tile. Ceramic is affordable and comes in a wide variety of styles and patters. If you need a more durable tile option though for high traffic areas like mudrooms then consider porcelain. Porcelain is denser than ceramic and can withstand heat and heavy foot traffic as well as support heavy appliances. We have concrete look porcelain tile, which not only makes your home look more modern, but it is easy to clean. There is also natural stone tile. What is different about stone tile is almost no two tiles look alike because they slabs are quarried from different locations. When properly sealed stone tiles can be waterproof and stain resistant.
Depending on the type of tile you choose, tile can go pretty much anywhere inside and outside of your home. Any tile option works well for your floors, but when it comes to tile on your walls you want to choose either a ceramic option or a tile that is specifically meant for walls. Places around your home tile can be installed includes kitchens and bathrooms, entryways, basements, even showers and outside as a patio or walkway.
